Letter from Miss Colombia 2009, Michelle Rouillard

As I mentioned before, Miss Colombia 2009, Michelle Rouillard, could not assist my event because she was preparing for Miss Universe in Bogota. The Miss Colombia Organization (Concurso Nacional de Belleza), that has supported me from the beginning, contacted her so she can write me a letter. I really appreciate Miss Colombia's letter because she took time out of her busy schedule to support Beyond the Wall. Thank you very much and good luck in the future pagaent.

When I found out about the "Beyond the Wall" project, I
confirmed that from small wishes come large benefits. Today I am marvelled to
see Fernando's great heart; with the fortune of living comfortably with his
family in the United States, he overturned his interest to help our country and
with his passion and time to offer a smile and warm company to the residents of
El Talon in Turbaco.

Fernando, for you a huge hug and it pleases me to know that the
coming generations want a more united and committed country with the
needy.

What is Beyond the Wall?

Beyond the Wall is the name of an organization with the mission of continuing to help the needy town of El Talon, located in the outskirts of Cartagena, Colombia.

Fernando Nuñez Esquiaqui, resident of Orlando, FL and only 17 at the time, began this organization on December 23rd, 2008, when he promised the residents of El Talon some help. On July 18th, 2009, with the help of many supporters, Fernando successfully distributed donations that he picked up from central Florida to every residents in El Talon. Since 2008, Beyond the Wall has had five successful distributions in El Talon, with plans to continue. Medical missions have also been completed...with hopes for more!

I was born in Fountain Valley, California on May 29,1991. I have a sister named Carrie, who is two years older than me. My parents were born in Colombia; my father is from Palmira, Valle and my mother is from Turbaco, Bolivar. My family and I currently reside in Orlando, FL and I currently attend Valencia College. I really enjoy traveling, writing, and learning about different cultures. I am currently majoring in Economics, and when I graduate, I would also like to get my pilot's license…since aviation has always been a passion of mine. I have many plans in my life, and Beyond the Wall will always be part of them. I feel very proud to be a Colombian-American, and I believe that this is an excellent way to show my pride.
